Bowman Development’s 801,000sf industrial building on Crayton Blvd. in Hagerstown is on schedule and ready for full occupancy in early July.

The site is competitively located between Exits 9 and 10 on Interstate 81. The industrial building will have a 40′ clear ceiling height, 182 spaces for trailer parking, 80 loading docks with the potential of up to 160, and the versatile Highway Interchange zoning.

801,000sf ‘Class A’ Industrial Warehouse on schedule

Construction of the new 801,000sf Class A Industrial Building on Showalter Road in Hagerstown is on schedule. Floor pad pouring is to start this week. This locally developed and owned industrial building has a competitive location, with access to I-81 from both Exit 9 and Exit 10.

This warehouse will have a 40′ clear ceiling height, 182 spaces for trailer parking, 80 loading docks with the potential of up to 160, Highway Interchange Zoning and immediate access to I-81.

Proposed Sheetz Coming Soon

Bowman Development purchased the land at the Corner of Spielman and Lappans Road with the intention of one day of improving and developing it. The site has always been zoned Highway Interchange for the obvious reasons. Over the years we have had truck terminal, truck stop and convenience store users interested in the site. A convenience store at this location will serve the residents of Williamsport and Downsville, as well as the business and employees in the area. Because of its location it is only natural that it would also serve the truck fueling needs of the area and interstate. We are excited that we found a high-quality partner in Sheetz. It is only the County’s zoning definition that defines this proposed development as a truck stop. Sheetz would describe it as a convenience store with truck fueling and no more than 30 truck parking spots – not a truck stop. In addition, if this project is approved, it will result in highway improvements to Spielman Rd and the intersection, making this portion of the road safer for all.

We would ask the community to show support for this development project by e-mailing or writing to the BZA and or the County Commissioners; as well has attending the hearing that has now been rescheduled to June 8th at 6:00PM at the County Courthouse, Court Room 1 at 24 Summit Ave.

Bowman makes deal to bring Hitachi Rail to Washington County

Bowman Development played an important initial role in bringing Hitachi Rail to Washington County.  Don Bowman said after first being made aware of the site requirement for this project in late 2020 we made a determined effort to help convince Hitachi’s consultants that Washington County was a good fit.  The site requirements were not the easiest to meet and we were pleased to find a property which was also agreeable to Hitachi.  From then on, we were part of a team helping to make the project happen.  It was a complex project. Mr. Bowman felt the project was important to the County to help diversify the employment base by welcoming a high-quality manufacturer to Washington County.  We also felt that by cooperating with the County, the extension of Halfway Blvd. will help with traffic and open additional land for future industrial development.  

We would be amiss not to recognize the role of the civil engineering firm of Frederick, Seibert & Associates, especially Dave Trostle, project manager, who worked closely with client and Bowman; often taking the lead coordinating with all the stakeholders.  

This project will bring over 400 new employment opportunities to Washington County and help sustain over 1,300 jobs in the region.
